I love your challenge for 2025! I also have a list—I thought it was a Lifetime List—but then I thought, what am I waiting for? So I’ve already signed up for 3 of the things on my list to do this year and I’m looking for more opportunities. Here’s to making things happen!

PS—one of the things on my list is to learn to canoe.

I love this! I am guilty of making lists that never seem to get shorter, so sometimes I have to stop planning and just jump in to make things happen. I hope you'll report back on how the canoeing goes for you!

Nice!! These all sound exciting, and challenges are great! I am very curious about the food dehydration - that could save so much money if it works.

I have a long list of specific nature places in my area that I want to tackle this year... and I just want to go camping more.

I'm hoping that the food dehydration works because it would give me a lot more variety in the type of food I take backpacking! I also have a huge sweet tooth so I want to see if there are any desserts that are worth dehydrating.

I love these so much!

Funny story: I got my son into D&D at a young age by doing “D&D Walks” - we would hike and do an adventure based on where we were hiking. We did “guess a number” in place of dice rolls. He’s 15 now and still loves D&D and hiking.

And definitely do the watercolor thing - you don’t need to be good, and you’ll probably surprise yourself.

Great list. This is inspiring.

I love the idea of doing a D&D day hike. I had been thinking I needed to do it as a backpacking weekend to have enough time to complete a story, but a shorter experience is probably more likely to actually happen!

Excellent point about signs at the park. Let me know if you end up reading any good books! Signs are meant to teach us something interesting in passing—but we can also see them as introductions to deeper dives into interesting topics. Wishing you a wonderful 2025.

I’ve started making a list of nature adjacent books, so I think this will be an ongoing project! And hopefully some of them will be worth recommending!
