Sorry weak joke 🥺, Eschatology is actually the branch of Theology dealing with the end of the world and the afterlife. Eskers not so widespread here in UK I've never walked any distance along one; I think because our glaciers were smaller and fast moving. But we do get some showy little meltwater channel features.
Yes! I have been hiking a lot in areas that were glaciated, and also on many ridges, so chances are I have done that already - I just didn’t know! Need to learn to recognize them :)
I like eskers too. Even though they're rocky, they give great views. When people have trouble remembering the names of glacial features, I tell them it sounds like "S-curve."
I’m really sad I missed the Steenbock project. I came down with a migraine that lasted for 30+ hours and I didn’t trust myself to drive that far when my eyes were still so sensitive to light. Hope there was enough snow to burn on Saturday!
I had no idea what an esker was! Thanks Alice...now I need to hit the trails to see if I can find some :)
Early spring and late fall are good times to seek them out because it’s easier to see the topography without leaves on all the brush!
I’m learning new things on my hikes with Alice.
I'm thrilled I can introduce others to the wonders of eskers!
I'm not sure I've ever seen an esker! Thanks for sharing.
If you’re ever hiking up in Wisconsin, there are quite a few on the Ice Age National Scenic Trail!
I have never been to Wisconsin, so I will keep that in mind!
There's actually a whole branch of philosophy called eskertology
I've never heard of that, but I'm excited to find some books and learn more!

Haha, just shows how little I know about philosophy! Still sounds like something interesting to look into, though!
Wow, so cool - I never knew this. Now I need to look out for them!
If you live near a glaciated area, hopefully you can find one where you are allowed to hike on the ridge!

Had lots of type 2 fun at Steenbock this weekend.
That’s a great memory device for eskers!

Ugh, that sucks. No, we didn't get snow until about 2 on Sunday. Too late to light fires. Got a lot done, though.
