Hi, I’m Alice!
I’m so glad you’re here!
Much of my leisure time is spent hiking, backpacking, and doing volunteer trailwork in the Upper Midwest. I love the serpentine ridge of an esker, campsites next to glassy lakes, and stonework that blends in so beautifully with the landscape that most hikers won’t even realize that a trail crew built it. You can learn more about me on my website or by connecting with me on Instagram.
What is this newsletter?
I write about my hiking (mis)adventures, share photos of the outdoor spaces I love, and offer advice for outdoorsy conundrums. (I highly recommend finding a pretty spot with some mossy rocks when you need to ruminate for a bit.) If you like it, I hope you’ll stick around and maybe even share a post with a friend!

Why subscribe?
If you’re like me, you may not remember to check this webpage weekly to see if there’s a new post. When you subscribe, each new article gets sent directly to your email so you won’t have to think about it! (If you’re trying to keep a minimalist inbox, you can download the Substack app and change your settings so that new posts are sent there instead of to your email.)
Your subscription also tells me that people care about my writing, which then motivates me to keep working on this project!
